We are no longer accepting applications for new students in Summer 2008. Please check back in January 2009 if you would like your child to apply to Summerbridge next year.Summerbridge recruits students from public middle schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District, including E.M. Daggett, Daggett Montessori, Handley, Stripling, Wedgwood, Dunbar, the Applied Learning Academy, Rosemont, William James, Meadowbrook, Glencrest / Forest Oak, and Morningside. To enroll in Summerbridge, students are required to complete a rigorous application and interviewing process.
91% of our students are students of color and 75% qualify for the free/reduced federal lunch program. English is a second language for 50% of our students, and 80% would be the first generation in their family to graduate from a four-year college or university.
RequirementsTo be eligible for admission into Summerbridge, students must be 6th or 7th grade students currently attending a Fort Worth ISD school.
• Summerbridge at Fort Worth Country Day School accepts students who make good grades, receive E’s and S’s in citizenship, and attend school regularly.
• Students and families must agree that, if a student is accepted, other activities will be scheduled around the dates of the Summer Program for three summers. Attendance is required every day of the Summer Program.
• Students must be willing to complete two hours of homework a night during the Summer Program.
• Summerbridge students share a love of learning and want to go to college. They strive to do their best and are always open to new ideas and challenges.
All applicants are required to submit a written application, a parent/guardian statement, standardized test scores, and grades.
The Student Admissions Committee (made up of Summerbridge alumni, former summer teachers, and School Year Program teachers and tutors) review student applications throughout February, March, and April. Each student with a completed application is invited to a personal interview. Admission decisions are made at the end of April and students will receive mailed notification of their status by early May.
