The Lower School Music classes presented their spring music program on April 25th at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in a filled-to-capacity FWCD Scott Theatre. Both programs were performed for standing-room-only crowds. This year’s program promoted diversity and friendship between cultures and spotlighted Fort Worth's Sister Cities Program, whose motto is “Building Bridges One Friendship at a Time."
The program was under the direction of Lower School Music Teachers Chris Derber and Marsha Rapfogel and was titled "Songs and Dances from our Seven Sister Cities." The program included songs that originated from: Reggio Emilia, Italy; Budapest, Hungary; Trier, Germany; Mbabane, Swaziland; Toluca, Mexico; Nagaoka, Japan; and Bandung, Indonesia. Several songs were performed in the native language by students wearing costumes of the country.
The program begin with a parade of different countries representative of the FWCD Lower School student body's diverse cultural heritage. Students of diversity were dressed in costumes of their country and carried that country's flag while all students sang "All the Children of the World” a song written by former FWCD music teacher, Jack Noble White.
